Student dies shortly after sports class

A 17-year-old student died suddenly after a PE lesson on Dec 23, Shanghai Morning Post reported.

The female student, surnamed Lu, was majoring in computerized numerical control at the vocational school affiliated to Shanghai Maritime University.

A witness, surnamed Gao, told the newspaper she was preparing lunch in her kitchen that overlooked the campus playground when the tragedy happened around 10 am. A bunch of students were warming up jogging and minutes later, she heard sirens and an ambulance and police arrived.

A teacher speaking on condition of anonymity said the student was a native of Shanghai and a very shy girl who has never spoken to her deskmate during the entire semester.

The student died on the way to the hospital. Local medical personnel are looking into the cause of her death.
