Another infant dies after hepatitis B vaccination in China

The number of recent infant deaths following hepatitis B vaccines has now risen to eight, after another baby died in southwestern Sichuan province on Monday.

Since November, four newborns in Guangdong province were declared dead shortly after receiving the hepatitis vaccine. Two deaths have been reported in central Hunan province, and now Sichuan province also counts two fatalities.

Among the eight dead, seven received vaccines made by the Shenzhen-based Biokangtai company. The latest victim was inoculated with a vaccine made by Beijing Tiantan.
