Students jailed for selling exam-cheating gadgets

Two university freshmen in Wuhan, Hubei province, have been sentenced to 10 months in prison for illegally producing and selling electronic equipment for cheating on the gaokao, China's college entrance examination, Chinanews.com reported on Wednesday.

Police in Jingmen announced on Dec 10 that 15 people were detained after a six-month investigation for alleged involvement in the illegal manufacture and sale of the equipment.

The two college students, Jiang Kun and Hu Bin, were among them.

Police said the 15 suspects were producing and selling the equipment in more than 20 provinces in China, and the amount of money involved reached 10 million yuan ($1.65 million), the report said.
