Beijing airport bomber sues city government

The hearing has begun of the Beijing airport bomber's case against Dongguan city government in south China's Guangdong Province.

Ji Zhongxing, 33, who is confined to a wheelchair, took Dongguan to court in October for alleged failure to certify that injuries to his legs came from beatings by security officers while he worked in the city in 2005.

A native of east China's Shandong Province, Ji set off a homemade bomb outside Beijing airport's terminal 3 arrivals exit on July 20, severely injuring himself and slightly injuring a police officer. Sentenced to six years in prison, Ji lodged an appeal which was rejected by court in November.

After the bombing, Dongguan public security bureau put Ji's case for "intentional injury" on file for investigation. His lawyer filed an application in August asking for disclosure of the investigation's outcome. The municipal government, on the other hand, told Ji on Oct. 22 that the application had been handed over to the public security bureau.
