Bus driver slapper gets off lightly

A woman who slapped a bus driver in northeast China's Heilongjiang province, causing a fatal brain hemorrhage, has received a suspended prison sentence, the court confirmed on Tuesday.

Defendant Xu Yumin, 41, argued with driver Luo Xingang, 39, on May 8 when she was prevented from getting off through the entrance-only front door, in the provincial capital of Harbin in may, the city's Daoli District Court said.

Xu took the same bus again on the evening of May 12 and slapped Luo when the bus arrived at the terminal and then left the scene.

Luo was found unconscious and foaming at the mouth 20 minutes later. Xu was detained after he died in hospital of a cerebral hemorrhage.

Xu's attack caused Luo's death and Xu's behavior constituted the crime of negligent homicide.

As Xu showed repentance she was given a three-year sentence, suspended for four years.
