Strong gales halted 12 train services on the Southern Xinjiang Railway in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region on Thursday, the local railway bureau said.
A service from Kashgar, three from Korla, three from Aksu and a train from Xi'an to Korla, have been suspended since 3:08 a.m. after winds between Turpan and Yuergou stations reached 126 km per hour, an official with the Urumqi Railway Bureau said.
Another four cargo and passenger trains have been canceled.
It is not known when the trains will resume operations, according to the railway bureau.
