Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi on Wednesday met with his Yemeni counterpart Abu Bakr al-Qirbi, who is with Yemeni President Abdorabuh Mansour Hadi in China.

Wang said China attaches importance to its traditional friendship with Yemen, respects the country's sovereign independence and territorial integrity and supports its political transition process, according to a Chinese Foreign Ministry press release.

China hopes Yemen will resolve differences through talks and find a development path suited to its national conditions, according to Wang.

He added that China is willing to further increase efforts to help Yemen push forward its economic and social reconstruction.

Yemen appreciates China's role in regional affairs, al-Qirbi said, stressing that the Middle East not only needs political change but also stability, economic development and improvement of people's livelihood.

China supports political talks to resolve crises, upholds justice on issues including the question of Palestinian and plays a positive role in the UN security council, he said.

Hailing China's long-term assistance and support to Yemen, al-Qirbi said Yemen is willing to further enhance the bilateral strategic friendship with China.
