Xi told visiting Yemeni President Abdorabuh Mansour Hadi that the reforms will also inject vitality into China-Yemen relations.

The 18th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) on Tuesday approved a decision on "major issues concerning comprehensively deepening reforms" at the close of its four-day meeting.

Xi told Hadi that the meeting, the Third Plenary Session of the 18th CPC Central Committee, outlined a "top-level design" for China's reform and will enormously and profoundly impact the country's development.

China will continue to push forward the "reform and opening-up" policy which first began in 1978, according to Xi.

The objective of the reforms is to improve and develop a socialist system with Chinese characteristics and push on with modernization of the country's governing system and capabilities, Xi said.

China will speed up the development of a socialist market economy, democracy, cultural development, social harmony and ecological progress so all people can enjoy more fruits of development fairly, he added.

Congratulating the success of the session, Hadi said the decision on "comprehensively deepening reforms" will promote China's development as well as expand the country's exchanges and cooperation with other nations.

Yemen admires China's achievements, Hadi said, noting that China's development is conducive to world peace, prosperity and human equality and justice.

Lauding development of bilateral relations, Xi said China and Yemen always are good friends, brothers and partners of mutual trust.

He stressed that China respects Yemen's sovereignty, independence and development path chosen by the Yemeni people as well as supports Yemen's political transition process and economic reconstruction.

China is ready to enhance communications with Yemen in governments, legislative bodies and political parties to exchange experiences on governance, Xi said.

China is willing to push forward cooperation with Yemen in electricity, energy, communications, transportation, infrastructure and other fields, Xi said, adding that China is also willing to provide assistance for Yemen in health, education, culture, sports and other areas.

Xi called on Yemen to create a safe and favorable business environment for Chinese companies and personnel, noting China will encourage more enterprises to invest in Yemen.

China supports Yemen's efforts to fight against terrorism and safeguard national security, Xi said, adding that China is ready to strengthen cooperation with Yemen in anti-terrorism and counter-piracy.

He said China will continue to promote the international community to provide assistance for Yemen.

Hadi said that Yemen is making efforts on pushing forward the political transition process through dialogue and consultation as well as accelerate economic reconstruction to seek an early end to unrest.

Yemen appreciates China's valuable assistance, Hadi said, stressing that Yemen firmly supports China's efforts to safeguard national sovereignty, security, territorial integrity and peaceful reunification.

Yemen is willing to be China's strategic partner and strengthen bilateral cooperation in political, economic and cultural areas, he said, adding the country welcomes Chinese investment in electricity, oil, gas and infrastructure.

After the talks, Xi and Hadi witnessed a signing ceremony of agreements on economic and technical cooperation and other fields.

Hadi, who is paying state visit to China from Nov. 12 to 15, is the first foreign leader Xi met after the plenary session.
