China's top authority of media announced Wednesday on its website that they have accepted a complaint letter submitted by the Nongfu Spring, a mineral water producer, against the alleged "false" reports from the Beijing Times.

The Nongfu Spring submitted the letter to the State General Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television on Monday, claiming that the newspaper fabricated reports on the company's products, which were published between April 10 and May 7, and caused huge damage to the company both financially and on its reputation.

"The 76 reports published by the Beijing Times attacking Nongfu Spring are premeditated and pre-organized. It is 'media violence' on Nongfu Spring," the company wrote on its official Weibo account.

A lawsuit against the newspaper was launched by the company in May, demanding 60 million yuan ($9.7 million) in compensation from the newspaper.

The company also shut down its production plant in Beijing, citing reasons that their reputation was tarnished in the region.
