Sun Yang dropped from team after driving offense

Olympic swimming champion and world record holder Sun Yang has been suspended from the national team after being detained for driving without a license, the Chinese swimming sports administrative center announced on Wednesday.

The sport's governing body made the decision on Wednesday morning after Sun was given a seven-day administrative detention for driving without a license by police inHangzhou,Zhejiangprovince. He was involved in a minor collision with a bus on Sunday.

Sun was detained in a local detention center since Monday and his parents have paid him a visit, Qianjiang Evening News reported.

But he has a single room and the food is different from that given to other detainees, Modern Express reported.
