A man who runs a wedding planning business in Anqing, Anhui province, bought a helicopter to fulfill a promise to his wife, Xin'an Evening News reported on Thursday.

Zhan Weimin, a Taihu county resident, married his wife Wang Jinxia, a Yuexi county resident, in 2002, and moved to Anqing to start a wedding planning company.

During a 5-hour trip on a motorcycle back to Wang's hometown, Wang told her husband she wished they could make the long journey by helicopter, and Zhan made a promise to her that he would buy one.

More than 10 years later, Zhan bought a helicopter for about 4 million yuan ($656,500) with money he had made from his business.

Zhan said that he bought the helicopter to promote their wedding planning company, and he made the aircraft's maiden voyage to take his wife back to her hometown on Oct 27.
