A taxi driver in Nanjing, Jiangsu province was shocked when he returned to his cab one morning to find a note that read, "Dear driver, your stuff was stolen at 3:30 am on October 27."

The driver soon discovered the 200 yuan ($33) in cash he had kept in the car was missing.

"Even thieves are 'honest' these days," said the cabbie, who explained he had carefully checked the window and door before parking his car on Xiaguan district's Duolun Road at 2:40 am that same morning.

"There were not much of value in the car, and I didn't notice anything wrong until I discovered the note on window," said the cabbie.

A police investigation into the matter is underway.
