Two separate train collisions in the past 24 hours have left two people dead and tens of others injured.

In Northeast China's Heilongjiang province, a passenger train collided with a coal-loaded truck at a rail crossing Thursday morning, killing the passenger train conductor and wounding ten others. The driver of the truck was held by police for more questioning.

The second collision happened on the Qinghai-Tibet railway line in northwest China's Qinghai province Wednesday evening. An empty train, operated by Golmud East Railway Station, crashed into another passenger train parked just outside the station.

A total of 52 people -- 47 passengers and five train workers -- were rushed to hospital for treatment and observation. One passenger died in hospital from his injuries on Thursday morning after being trapped between two carriages of the passenger train. Three other passengers with serious injuries are now in stable condition.

The cause of the collision is being investigated.
