First Lady mourns vocal teacher

China's First Lady Peng Liyuan attended the memorial meeting for her vocal teacher Wang Yinxuan Monday.

Wearing a black suit and natural make-up, Peng triggered a big stir among the prestigious vocalist's family and students.

Passing away on Oct. 12, at the age of 77, Wang was the president of Shandong Conservatory of Music.

Peng was one of Wang's students in folk music.

"We never imagined the first lady would come to mourn her teacher and we are deeply touched by her doing so," one of Wang's students, who goes by the alias of "Baritone Anke," recalled on Weibo, China's Twitter-like microblogging platform.
