Now for some great fun happening in the capital of Algeria. The 6th Algiers International Cartoon festival has opened this Wednesday. Many cartoon works from China are making their first appearance at the event.

The festival has attracted artists from 29 countries. In the Chinese section, 60 classic cartoons are showcased, and Chinese cartoonists hold seminars to explain the development of Chinese cartoons.

"I think we Chinese cartoonists are the greatest highlight of the festival. We are very honoured to be the first Chinese cartoonists to come here. Their media gave us a lot of coverage. I think it shows not only their interest in our cartoons, but also interest in our culture and the reforms taking place in China." Cartoonist Li Kunwu said.

Japanese Manga has had a great influence on Algeria, and the presence of Chinese cartoons offers a new option, as well as a window into Chinese culture.

The event will last until October 12th and is expected to be the beginning of more Chinese cartoons coming to Algeria.
