The Central Commission for Discipline Inspection (CCDI) has encouraged the exploration of a package of measures aimed at combating corruption brought about by misuse of government vehicles.

The package highlighted a plan to install GPS systems in government cars to prevent them being used for private trips by officials. Similar pilot programs have been implemented in several provinces including Guangdong and Gansu.

The CCDI said it will explore the expansion of putting identification tags on government vehicles, a measure that has been adopted in a dozen provinces since 2005.

The CCDI made the suggestions in a reply to a proposal from Zhang Yubiao, a deputy of the National People's Congress, reported the Nandu Daily.

The CCDI also said it will release guidelines based on the experience of current pilot programs to better regulate the purchase and use of government vehicles.
