Chinese shooter Mai Jiajie claimed the men's 10m air pistol individual title with 202.8 points at the 6th East Asian Games (EAG) in Tianjin on Wednesday.

"In qualification, I didn't perform well. I feel a little lucky to enter the finals," said Mai.

"But in the finals, I adjusted myself and spared no effort to have this result (gold medal)," he said.

Mai's teammates Pang Wei and Wang Zhiwei ranked second and third.

Mai didn't make a smooth way to his victory in the finals. After the first 6 shots, he led all athletes. However, he made a 8.8-point next.

"I still need to adjust to the new rules on time of every shot in the finals, which changed from 75 to 50 seconds," said Mai.

Wang, who ranked first in qualification, had a stable performance in the first 16 shots, while wasting the lead with a 9.0 points and 9.1 points in the next two shots.

"Maybe I relaxed too much then," said Wang.

In the team event, China won the gold medal with 1,756 points, thanks to Mai, Wang and Pang's teamwork. DPR Korea and South Korea took the silver and bronze medals with respective 1,737 and 1,733 points.

Thursday features last two events of the EAG shooting tournament: women's 10m air pistol team and individual.
