Runners take part in mountain marathon in Beijing

The annual Beijing international marathon is not until next month, but there was a long distance race held in the capital this weekend -- the Beijing Mountain Marathon.

The annual Beijing international marathon is not until next month, but there was a long distance race held in the capital this weekend -- the Beijing Mountain Marathon.

The event takes place at the Beijing Western Hills National Forest Park, outside the city. More than a thousand runners would test their endurance. The race was run on mountain trails and included inclines that reached three-to-four-hundred metres.

And that definitely tested the athletes' stamina. Ding Zhizhong won the men's race, clocking in at more 3 hours and 11 minutes. Shan Ying took the women's group crown, finishing in 4 hours and 52 minutes.
