The National Ballet of China recently pirouetted their way into Paris for their debut performance in the French capital. The ballet troupe are performing the world-renowned classic "Swan Lake", along with the Chinese ballet "The Red Detachment of Women".

Dancers from the National Ballet of China performed "Swan Lake" to a packed house at the Theatre du Chatelet in Paris on Wednesday.

Although the iconic production has been performed numerous times by many world-class ballet companies, this traditional rendition by Chinese performers astonished the audience, winning rapturous applause.

"It was a great show, I really enjoyed watching it."

"I know 'Swan Lake' very well and I think this was a really beautiful version. And by the way, the dancers were amazing! I loved the show!"

Besides "Swan Lake", the National Ballet of China will present the classic Chinese ballet "The Red Detachment of Women" to Parisians. This piece retraces the story of the women warriors fighting for their freedom alongside the Red Army in the 1930s.

Director of the troupe, Feng Ying, believes both ballets will allow audiences to see the diversity and broad influences of the company.

Feng Ying, Director of National Ballet of China, said, " ′The Red Detachment of Women′ is the oldest Chinese ballet, and 'Swan Lake' is probably the most famous ballet in the world. So it means a lot for us to perform both pieces here in Paris."

The National Ballet of China's performance in Paris runs until October 3.
