NPC senior official visits Romania to boost ties

China is willing to make joint efforts with Romania to further deepen mutual political trust and promote the comprehensive development and mutually beneficial cooperation, Ji Bingxuan, vice chairman of China's National People's Congress (NPC) Standing Committee, said on Tuesday.

Ji, heading a NPC delegation, is paying a visit to Bucharest from September 20 to 24.

During the visit, Ji met separately with Valeriu Zgonea, Speaker of Deputies Chamber, Nicolae Moga, Vice Speaker of the Senate, Viorel Hrebenciuc, Vice Speaker of Deputies Chamber, Augustin Zegrean, President of the Constitutional Court, and Octavian Motoc, President of the Parliamentary Group of Friendship Romania-China.

During the meetings, Ji emphasized the profound traditional friendship existing between the two states, close cooperation and mutual support on major international issues.

He hoped the legislative bodies of the two countries will strengthen exchanges and cooperation, promoting the comprehensive development of mutually beneficial cooperation in economy, trade, culture and other fields.

The Romanian part said during the meetings that Romania is China's good friend and partner in the European Union, Romanian parliament and government attach great importance to relations with China and will continue to adhere to the one-China policy.

The Romanian MPs sincerely wish that the two countries, based on the existing good political relations, will further push forward the bilateral friendly and mutually beneficial cooperation to achieve greater development.
