China has launched its first national campaign on children's safety to help students prepare for earthquakes and other potential disasters. An elementary school in Lushang county in Southwest China's Sichuan province took part in safety drills on Monday.

The county was hit by a 7-magnitude quake on April 20th, leaving nearly 200 people dead.

Students from the Taiping elementary school also participated in several drills to prepare for future earthquakes.

Close to 500 students and teachers managed to evacuate the school within two minutes in Monday's drill.
