The Chinese Foreign Ministry has also addressed the Diaoyu Islands issue. The statement came after Japan's Chief Cabinet Secretary, Yoshihide Suga, said on Tuesday that Japan could "station government workers on the islands to strengthen practical control."

"China is gravely concerned with Japan's statements. China is resolute and determined to defend its sovereignty over the Diaoyu Islands and will not tolerate any provocative acts of escalation over China's sovereignty. If Japan doesn't stop its provocative moves, it will be responsible for all the consequences," said Hong Lei, spokesman of Chinese Foreign Ministry.
