As part of the security upgrade at the Palace Museum, HD cameras will be installed, the Beijing News reported.

According to an official, 491 HD cameras will supplement the original 1,457 cameras to eliminate blind zones in their video surveillance. The number of visitors to the Palace Museum has increased from seven million in 2002 to 15.34 million in 2012. To ensure safety during the Mid-Autumn Festival and the National Day golden week, the Palace Museum will post more security personnel and 300 security volunteers.
