China, Vietnam vow to safeguard border security

Chinese State Councilor Guo Shengkun on Thursday pledged to work with Vietnam to safeguard border security.

Guo, also the Minister of Public Security, made the remarks while meeting with Vietnam's Deputy Minister of Public Security, Bui Quang Ben, in Beijing.

Guo said China's Ministry of Public Security is willing to maintain high-level visits with the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam and further enhance cooperation in information sharing, personnel training and the pursuit of criminals.

He called on the public security ministries of both sides to jointly fight against terrorism and drugs, telecommunications fraud, and human trafficking so as to maintain safety and stability in the cross-border region.
