A nationwide campaign has been launched in China to promote intelligent elderly care services, according to a Monday statement from the China National Committee on Aging (CNCA).

An expert committee on aging was established by the CNCA to develop more intelligent care facilities which can fit both elders' demands and raise the country's overall elderly care service, according to the statement.

The committee provide policy proposals and design scientific programs for intelligent elderly care services.

China's elderly care has long been constrained by out-dated facilities and poor efficiency, said Zhu Yong, deputy head of the CNCA.

A total of 15 intelligent bases for the old have been established across China.

China had about 185 million people above the age of 60 as of the end of 2011. The figure is expected to reach 221 million in 2015.
