Chinese Vice Premier Wang Yang met with Somali Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Fowsia Yusuf Haji Adan here on Monday.

During the meeting, Wang hailed the traditional friendship between the two countries and reaffirmed China's support for Somalia's peace process.

China stands ready to increase high-level interactions, resume and expand practical cooperation in various areas with Somalia, and help the African country to achieve lasting peace and stability, Wang said.

Fowsia said the Somali side regards China as a reliable partner and looks forward to cooperation in energy, infrastructure, agriculture, national security and other areas.

Fowsia is paying an official visit to China from Aug. 22 to 28.
