China and Kenya on Tuesday pledged to further enhance their cooperation in all areas including national development, disaster prevention and poverty reduction.

The pledge was made during a meeting between Chinese Premier Li Keqiang and visiting Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta, a day after the two countries announced that they would establish a comprehensive and cooperative partnership featuring equality, mutual trust and mutual benefit.

China will strengthen cooperation in all areas with Kenya and promote relations to a new high, Li said.

He said China was a developing country that was prone to frequent natural disasters. Some disaster-hit areas are suffering from both disaster and poverty.

China and Africa are facing the same tasks and challenges in terms of disaster prevention and relief, as well as poverty reduction. The two sides should share experiences and enhance cooperation in this regard, and work with the international community to promote poverty reduction and achieve common development, Li said.

He said China supports Africa's efforts to realize integration and solve problems on its own. China is also willing to contribute to Africa's peace and development.

Kenyatta said that Kenya highly value its ties with China and expressed appreciation over China's long-term assistance and support.

He said Kenya is willing to learn from China's experiences in national development, promote their cooperation, and push forward Kenya-China relations and Africa-China relations to a new high.
