A 21-year-old man who works as an extra was Beijing's first thermoplegia patient in 2013. He was sent to the hospital in June, but has now recovered, the Beijing Evening News reports.

Sources said that the man had been stricken after running in a thick cotton-padded jacket on a hot day. According to Song Qing, the leading expert in thermoplegia, it is the most serious kind of heatstroke and the death rate can reach 40 to 50 percent.
