Zhangjiagang to build intangible cultural heritage museum

The Zhangjiagang intangible cultural heritage museum, as part of a culture center area in the northern part of the city, will be built in 2014 with an area of 5,000 square meters.

Visitors can learn about the intangible cultural heritage of the city in the museum. It will provide a place for experts and scholars to hold seminars.

Zhangjiagang attaches great importance to the protection of intangible cultural heritages. A total of 68 heritage works and 34 inheritance individuals will be listed after the city finishes a heritage census.

A number of heritage protection museums in Zhangjiagang, including the Heyang folk song museum and Leyu kite museum, have become city-level protection bases in the Suzhou area.

The city also organizes a series of intangible cultural heritage protection events. Nearly 100 heritage performances have won prizes in various contests.

The Zhangjiagang cultural heritage research and protection center was founded in 2012. This year, the city was honored as the .Home of Chinese Folk Culture and Arts. and the .Home of Quyi. (a style of Chinese folk art).
