No casualties reported in E China chemical plant blaze

No casualties or toxic gas leak has been reported after a chemical plant caught fire in east China's Shandong Province on Saturday afternoon, local authorities said.

The fire started at 4:45 p.m. in Luxi Chemical Plant in the City of Liaocheng, sources with the city's publicity department said.

Twenty fire trucks have been dispatched to the scene and the fire has been put under control, the source said.

Local environmental protection authorities said the accident did not cause toxic gas leakage.

No casualties has been reported. Further investigation into the cause of the fire is under way.

The factory, located in Dong'e county, produces refined chemicals as sulfuric acid and chemical fertilizer.
