Live to 81.35 in Beijing

The Beijing government recently released a white paper on public health, which states that the life expectancy of Beijing residents has grown to 81.35 years compared with 79.62 in 2003, the Beijing News reported on Thursday.

According to the white paper, released by the Beijing Municipal Public Health Bureau, the life expectancy of male residents in Beijing is 79.35 years and 83.42 for female residents. The life expectancy of Beijing residents is 7.85 years longer than the average life expectancy of the Chinese people.

There are 20.693 million people in Beijing but only 12.975 million have a hukou (household registration). The paper is based on statistics of Beijing residents with a hukou.
