All passengers accounted for in San Francisco air crash

All the passengers and crew members on board an Asiana Airlines flight, which crashed while landing at San Francisco International Airport (SFO) Saturday, have been accounted for, with two passengers killed, the city's Mayor Ed Lee announced.

"Everyone has been accounted for," Lee said at a news conference.

Meanwhile, the Yonhap news agency quoted the South Korean foreign ministry as saying that one of the two people killed in the air crash holds Chinese passport.

However, the report has not been confirmed immediately by the Chinese Consulate General in San Francisco nor by the San Francisco airport.

According to Asiana, South Korea's second largest airliner, the plane, a Boeing 777-200, which departed from Seoul, was carrying 291 passengers and 16 crew members, South Korea's Yonhap news agency reported.

Among the passengers were 141 Chinese, 77 South Koreans and 61 U.S. citizens, with the nationalities of the others unknown, said Asiana.

Officials of the Chinese Consulate General are working with local authorities to confirm the conditions of the Chinese nationals.

A number of witnesses and passengers said the plane was probably landing too soon or too early that caused its tail to hit the ground, veer off the runway and burst into flame. Most passengers jumped down the inflatable slides to safety, some with injuries.

　　Officials declined to give details of passengers receiving care at several hospitals in the Bay Area.
