Chinese people made more than 83 million trips abroad in 2012. But with the increase in overseas travel, comes an increase in potential danger. There now seem to be constant reports of attacks on Chinese citizens.

The past year has seen a number of high profile incidents. On June 23rd, nine foreign tourists were killed by terrorists in northern Pakistan, including two Chinese and a Chinese American.

On June 14th, six Chinese students were attacked in western France. One student was disfigured in the attack.

In September 2012, a number of Chinese residents were attacked in South Africa, several killed. In January that year, 29 Chinese workers were abducted in South Sudan by local rebel forces.
