Benz vandal detained

Jiading District People's Court sentenced a man to one year and three months of probation for causing 48,000 yuan ($7,805) worth of damage to five of his employer's cars, the court said in a news release Thursday.

The man, surnamed Wang, who had been in a salary dispute with the auto sales service company, smashed the Mercedes-Benz vehicles with a flat spade one night in February.

Two days later, the company identified Wang as the vandal and called the police. Wang paid the company 60,000 yuan in compensation.
