International action star Jackie Chan has been in New Delhi for the China Film Festival, organized by the Indo-China Economic and Cultural Council. Long famous for his martial arts and comedic skills, Chan now says he wants to be the "Asian Robert De Niro", not just an action hero.

Local movie fans form a long line outside the cinema, hoping to get a closer look at the kungfu icon before the premiere of his latest directorial effort "Chinese Zodiac".

The arrival of the 59-year-old actor livens up the atmosphere, proof that Indian audiences love kungfu movies, as well as this Chinese movie star.

Before the screening, the action hero also entertains the crowd by singing a popular Chinese song.

And speaking at a news conference later, Chan says he doesn't want to be remembered simply as an action hero.

Jackie Chan said, "I really want to be like an Asian Robert De Niro. You look at De Niro, you look at Al Pacino, Dustin Hoffman - they can do everything."

In the hope of landing a Bollywood role, the actor/director plugs all of his artistic skills, which he says go beyond martial arts.

Jackie Chan said, "I want to be a true actor. So, all kinds of roles, as long as it's a good script. I am not looking for money. I'm looking for a good script, good music, good dancing. I definitely make Bollywood film. I am waiting for, please help me, director, I am good actor, and good dancer, good singer."

Chan last visited India in 2008, and has already worked with Indian actress Mallika Sherawat in the movie "The Myth."
