At least five people were killed in a road cave-in that occurred Monday night in south China's Guangdong Province, local authorities said Tuesday.
The accident occurred around 9:19 p.m. on a road in the Huamao Industrial Park in the city of Shenzhen, sources with the city's emergency relief office said.
As of 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, five bodies had been retrieved from a pit measuring three to four meters deep.
Search and rescue efforts are under way.
The identities of the deceased have yet to be verified, the sources said.
An investigation into the cause of the accident is also under way.
