China condemns Osaka mayor's comfort women comment

China has condemned the comments made by the mayor of Osaka. The Foreign Ministry said China is shocked by this challenge to humanity and justice.

Hong Lei, Spokesman, Chinese Foreign Ministry, said, "The forced conscription of wartime sex slaves during World War Two by the Japanese militarists was a serious crime. It is a major human rights issue concerning the personal dignity of the victims. The way Japan deals with its history will determine its future. As to which choice they will make, the Asian people and the world are watching and waiting."
