Asia seeking common ground while reserving differences

The Boao Forum for Asia has become the high-level dialogue platform for Asian countries to discuss economic, social and environmental issues, with "cooperation and win-win" being the constant topic.

It provides an arena for varied voices in Asia to exchange, collide and fuse. It is also an important intellectual support for the realization of "Asia's dream", said Zhou Wenzhong, secretary general of the Boao Forum for Asia.

Over the past 10 years, China and the other Asian countries, seeking common ground while reserving differences, played an important role in maintaining region peace, stability and security, and promoting regional integration and common development.

Undoubtedly, Asia is facing various challenges, from the situation on the Korean Peninsula, the dispute of sea sovereignty to economic transformation and upgrading.

Looking to the future, Asia's cooperation should strengthen rather than weaken. Only Asian countries jointly protect the peace and stability of this region, can Asian dream be realized.

World meeting challenge and enjoying prosperity

In 2001, world economy suffered from the bursting of "Internet bubble". In 2013, the aftermath of world finical crisis that started from the United States still has impacts on the world.

The Boao Forum for Asia not only focuses on Asia issues, but also pays more and more attention to global development. At the same time, the world also keeps closer eyes on the forum.

Since the inauguration of the forum in 2001, Chinese dream, Asia's dream and world's dream have increasing blended together.

Asia, including China, has maintained overall peace and stability and its economy has seen sustained and rapid growth. It has become an important driving force behind the world dream. According to the International Monetary Foundation (IMF), developing economies in Asia saw an annual average growth of 9.5 percent, 7.8 percent and 6.7 percent from 2010 to 2012 respectively, ranking world's first.

During the world financial crisis, G20, instead of G8, became an important platform for international community to work together to deal with the issue. Asian countries, including China, Japan, South Korea, India and Indonesia, are all G20 member countries.

In addition, the BRICS countries of China, India, Brazil, Russia and South Africa, have played constructive role in promoting the reform of the IMF and the World Bank.

Peace and development are the mainstream, but the world still faces the traditional and non-traditional threats from geopolitical hotspots, international financial crisis, food security and energy security.

The three-day Boao Forum for Asia is fruitful, in the process of Chinese people pursuit of Chinese dream, Asia and the world have stood together at the new historical point to seek Asian dream and world dream.
