Two college students from China have won a special award at the Tokyo International Anime Fair. Their short animated work is the only one to win the prestigious award this year. Let's meet these emerging stars of the industry.

The animated short centers on the lion dance, a traditional Chinese performing art. It tells the touching story of a brother and sister who learn the dance together. Both become good at it, and eventually compete against one another.

The creators of the lovely characters are two students from the Communication University of China. Ma Weijia and Duan Wenkai are classmates, but the duo struggled at the beginning.

Duan Wenkai, College Student, said, " We both had our own ideas and we couldn't convince each other. So at first we fought a lot. But in the end we always managed to make compromises. "

The film is only 5 minutes long, but it took the team a year to finish it. They say it's their passion for the art that made them overcome various obstacles and complete the work. And winning the award in Tokyo is like a dream come true.

Ma Weijia, College Student, said, " I really love animation. So all the hard work is worth it. "
