A high-tech sky train is being planned for Wenzhou in Zhejiang province to ease the city's worsening traffic jams, an official said on Tuesday.

Zhou Shouquan, director in charge of solving traffic jams in Wenzhou, said the sky train will take cars off the road, as there is an isufficient number of roads to accommodate the rapidly increasing number of vehicles.

The sky train track, which will be up to 10km long, is planned to run between two bus stations in the city and cost 200 million yuan ($32 million) per km. This is much cheaper than construction of the underground railway in Hangzhou, which cost nearly 600 million yuan per km.
