Multi-million dog case

2013-03-21 09:49 Global Times     Web Editor: Gu Liping comment

A woman sued a pet hospital over her dog's death and asked for 6.45 million yuan ($1.04 million) in compensation Wednesday at Fengtai district court, the Legal Mirror reported.

The woman, surnamed Lin, claimed that it was the hospital's irresponsibility which led to her dog's death. Lin took her dog to the vet after it had a heart attack, and the vet trod on its back, she alleged.

Lin said she needed her pet's companionship to help her with a mental disability, and its death led to her losing her bank job. The compensation includes 2.1 million yuan for mental damages and 4.17 million for loss of earnings.

The pet hospital denies liability.
