City to test cleaner gasoline

2013-03-13 16:55 Global Times     Web Editor: Gu Liping comment

Shanghai will begin a trial in September for the use of the "Shanghai 5" standard of gasoline, the local news portal eastday.com reported Tuesday.

To meet the standard, gasoline must contain less than 10 parts per million (ppm) of sulfur, 20 percent of the level required by the Euro 4 gasoline standard.

The lower sulfur content in gasoline aims to reduce PM 2.5 levels in the city.
