The rebels of Seleka coalition who, for the last two weeks, had occupied the town of Mobaye in the south of the Central African Republic, were evacuated on Sunday by the Central African Multinational Forces (FOMAC).

Eyewitnesses who spoke to Xinhua on Tuesday by phone said that no major incident was reported.

Pascal Dadou, a government official who works in the town, said that the evacuations happened after days of negotiations between the commanders of FOMAC and Seleka's heads of operations in the town.

"The rebels left the town without any resistance. They were peacefully escorted out of town by FOMAC officers," he added.

Marcel Kolissoura, a resident of the town, said the Seleka fighters left the town aboard five FOMAC vehicles, and he added that after the departure of the rebels, some people who had fled to the Democratic Republic of Congo (DR Congo) and some other neighboring villages began to return to Mobaye town.

The new Defense Minister, who is also the head of the Seleka rebels, Michel Djotodja, said that before the disarmament program of the rebels begin, they will be assembled in the town of Kaga- Bandoro, Bria and Ndele in the North-East region.

However, some isolated cases of attacks by the rebels have been reported in some towns. In Kouango on the west of Mobaye, a religious source said that last week, some Seleka rebels broke into the home of a government official in the town of Bombala which is situated about 40 km from Bombaye.

On Monday at Kaga-Bandoro, the rebels looted at a home of a trader whom they went ahead to assassinate, a local resident said.

Their leaders who are in Bangui have said that the violent acts are being perpetrated by undisciplined members who will be contained soon in the mentioned towns.
