The government of Xi'an is disputing rumors that the recent suicide of a senior police official is related to the "House Sister" scandal.

He Shengli was deputy head of the household administration department of the public security bureau in Xi'an, the capital of Northwest China's Shaanxi province.

The official jumped from the fifth floor of his office on Feb 17, the bureau confirmed on its verified micro blog on Feb 19.

He's responsibilities included household registration.

Xi'an was the site of one of four hukou, or household registrations, of Gong Aiai, a former bank manager nicknamed "House Sister" after reports surfaced that she owned 41 houses in Beijing and multiple hukou.

In China, each person can have only one hukou and identity, a law overseen by public security authorities.

He's family and friends said that he suffered for years from mental disorders and insomnia, for which he received medical treatment.
