Korean rapper PSY is to join this year's Shanghai Spring Festival TV Gala on Dragon TV, and it's drawing a lot of interest from around the country.

South Korean pop star Psy is in town for the festival, and will be performing on this year's Dragon TV Spring Festival gala. The 36-year-old hit gold this year with the song "Gangnam Style," which became a global phenomenon. He says he's been thrilled by the warm welcome on his first trip to Shanghai.

Psy, S. Korean Pop star, said, "This is my first public appearance on TV in China. I'm looking forward to showing the best of my performances to the audiences here, and I promise there'll be surprises. This is my 12th year in the entertainment industry. In the past, only handsome guys got the attention, but tastes seem to have changed."

PSY says that the overwhelming success of "Gangnam Style," which registered more than 1 billion internet hits, has created pressure to come up with something new that's just as good.

Psy of S. Korean Pop Star, said, "It took 15 members of our team around a month to choreograph the horse-riding dance. We didn't expect it to be such a hit. The popularity of the video has put us under pressure to come up with a more creative and energetic dance move in my new album, set to be released in April."

Directors of the show banned cameras from rehearsals to protect the show's element of surprise. But reports suggest PSY will make a spectacular helicopter entrance when he performs his "Gangnam Style," with dancing robots. The show airs at 7:30pm on Sunday.
