Transgender thief jailed

A 28-year-old transgender man was sentenced to 10 months in prison for theft by Fengtai District People's Court, the Legal Mirror reported Wednesday.

The suspect, surnamed Liu, had part of his transgender surgery in 2010, but as he was short of money, he then began to steal from men in bars.

In September 2011, Liu stole 800 yuan ($128) and a cellphone from a man surnamed Xu in a hotel in Chaoyang district. Ten months later, Xu saw Liu in the same pub and called police. Xu said Liu had long hair, wore a long dress and looked like a young lady.
