A Chengdu charity chief has been removed from her post after her husband was accused of corruption.

Qu Songzhi had not shown up to work as Party secretary of the city's Red Cross Society since December and has now been replaced, Beijing News reported on Jan 24.

Li Chuncheng, her husband, was dismissed as deputy secretary of the Party's Sichuan Provincial Committee last month. He is accused of "serious discipline violations".

According to reports, Qu used to work at a Chengdu hospital until Li was appointed the city's Party chief in 2003. She was given a job with the health bureau in 2008 and became Party chief of the Red Cross branch in 2009.

Chengdu authorities declined to comment on why she was removed on Jan 24.
