The news that The Legend of Zhenhuan, a Qing dynasty drama that focuses on the schemes in the Inner Palace during Emperor Yong Zheng's reign, will be exported to the U.S. caused a stir among netizens. Drafting of a contract is underway with an American company. The drama will be edited into six TV movies and broadcast on mainstream TV channels in the U.S., said Zheng Xiaolong, the director of the drama.

According to Zheng, the American company will re-edit this drama, add some more shots, and re-dub in background music. The Chinese side will not be involved in the editing process, due to different TV watching habits in the U.S.

Why import The Legend of Zhenhuan? The American company believes the drama will win audiences in English speaking market. The positive core values conveyed by the drama have made it a great success.

Chinese version of the drama has already been broadcast on Chinese TV channels in the U.S., but the audience is limited to Chinese people. The re-edited version of the drama will be broadcast on mainstream TV channels in the U.S. "This indicates a real walking out", Zheng said.
