Lenovo launches Horizon Table PC

2013-01-07 16:30 Xinhua     Web Editor: Gu Liping comment

Lenovo showed its most important new product of the year, the IdeaCentre Horizon Table PC, on the pre-exhibition unveiled to media on Sunday, two days before the official opening of 2013 International CES (Consumer Electronics Show).

This product creates an entirely new PC category beyond the traditional PC, Lenovo said in a press release.

The 27-inch desktop can be laid flat on a table and the touch screen can be used by several people at the same time.

Lenovo highlights the digital gaming experience of using this product, with its exclusive "Edutainment" games for learning and fun and special accessories including e-dice, joysticks and strikers.

"Tablets, PCs are all used by one person. This product is a multi-user one, which will turn a personal computing experience into a shared computing experience," said Liu Xiaoyu, who introduced the Table PC to reporters.

Lenovo said the Horizon Table PC takes advantage of Windows 8 touch functionality to bring customized games from Electronic Arts and Ubisoft to life in a way players have never seen before. It can also easily transform into a vertical desktop.

Lenovo will also demonstrate a large 39-inch wide-screen Table PC, code-named "Gamma," which is indicative of Lenovo's future direction in Table PC computing.

"We've seen technology shifts across the four screens, from the desktop to the laptop, tablet and smartphone, and yet, while people have more computing power than ever before, there is still room for technologies like Horizon that bring people together," said Peter Hortensius, president of Lenovo's Product Group.

"Now many people can enjoy different photos, music and video on the same screen, and they can play games with our special accessories that blend physical and digital interaction," he added.

The IdeaCentre Horizon Table PC will be available for sale in early summer, with prices starting at approximately 1,699 dollars, Lenovo said.

One of the top PC makers in the world, Lenovo is selling Think-branded commercial PCs, Idea-branded consumer PCs, as well as tablets, smart phones, servers and workstations in over 160 countries and regions.
