The Mexican Navy rescued 10 Chinese and U.S. tourists, including three children, stranded in a boat off the coast of Puerto Vallarta, a resort town in Mexico's western Jalisco state, officials said Wednesday.

The tourists were rescued Tuesday night after Puerto Vallarta's port authorities received an SOS call from the "Aromi" boat bearing a Mexican flag, the navy said in a statement.

The small sightseeing boat was towed to port by another civilian boat while being adrift around 3.7 kilometers away from the coast after running out of fuel.

All 10 passengers were in good health after they were taken aboard the "Defender" ship.
